It was a perfect weekend to experience the 53rd annual Air and Water Show while sailing along the lake. The show took place along the shore of Lake Michigan from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street Beach. The teams sailed through four races, the last one bringing them back to the dock.  They sailed two WL 2’s and one WL 4.  The race was about 200 yards.  There were a few things noticed during the first round that the teams had a chance to improve on during their last few rounds. What a relief! Chicago's winter weather was a little much this year. Especially last Saturday's snow storm. As Sail-World reported earlier this week, this weekend is the start of two weekends of Match Race competition just outside of Belmont Harbor. In its first season, Chicago Match Race has kept their portion of B Dock busy! Earlier this season they hosted an international Grade 2 regatta in August. We quickly called the boats back in and I was armed with an actual camera, as opposed to my phone, to take some pictures.These were snapped from the dock. Yesterday our high was 12 degrees lower than the average temperature. The lake is higher than it has been in years. Over the winter Lake Michigan almost froze over, or so I've been told. Some great sailing weather...</title><summary type='text'>I arrived at B Dock to find the winds out of the west at 10 knots and our boats already heading out with classes on them. After three weekends of cold, overcast weather punctuated with sun and winds of 40 knots - today is a very good day. Summer might finally be on its way.
